Some notes on Station Road and other areas (contributed by
Lynton Cox March 2011) Don't forget Hall the Baker and Simons the
butcher behind the mill and where the post office hairdressers and
maisonettes are was at one time occupied by the Red Lion pub behind
which was a hut used by the youth club. When the building was first
built it was occupied by Timberland (Yet another hardware and DIY
store!).
In the sixties too, next door to Cunnington's in church street was a
sweet shop and then a bicycle shop.
We shouldn't forget either Mr and Mrs Tate who had a mobile grocery
van.
